Imagine Gift Store

Designed and developed a custom WordPress website that translated the personality of a large historic Rhode Island gift store into a playful, maintainable online experience.

Design & Implementation

Imagine Gift Store occupies the restored Lyric Theatre in Warren, Rhode Island, so the site needed to feel much more playful than a typical retail website. I leaned into large in-store photography, purple branding to match the building’s aesthetic, whimsical display typography, fluid moving roundel backgrounds, soft lavender accents, and contrasting pink (later to changed to red for the holidays) calls to action rather than trying to make the store feel artificially minimal.

The WordPress build used a custom theme and gave the store maintainable areas for its activities, store hours, artisan information, news and events, contact information, and other changing content. The site also had to communicate that Imagine was not simply a store: the physical location includes experiences such as its candy shop, ice cream shop, scavenger hunt, photo opportunities, and events.

This was my first full client build at OMNI and I was very much self-directed in the development process and was useful practice in taking a site from a visual concept all the way through a CMS-backed implementation as well as the general learnings of working with a client to iterate on design and functionality
